The Transformative Power of Forgiveness

12/5/23 | Journal Thoughts

When God nudges us to forgive, it’s not an excuse for what was done to us, but a chance to break free from the suffocating grip of unforgiveness.

Picture unforgiveness as this sneaky poison—that starts as a tiny seed of offense, and then grows into this giant tree of bitterness. That’s the kicker: it doesn’t really care about the person who did you wrong. Nope, unforgiveness, is hunting for vessels to dump its venom into.

In Mark 11:25, Jesus says; “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

In other words, forgiveness is actually more so for you than it is for the other person who hurt you.

See, when you forgive others you are extending the forgiveness of Jesus on your behalf.

As He hung on the cross, nailed by the very people he came to save…

Jesus uttered words that would make jaws drop on the floor in todays cancel culture.

“Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)

A.W. Tozer said in his book  Preparing for Jesus’ Return: Daily Live the Blessed Hope,

If you have unforgivness in your heart, I have some good news for you….

Jesus sees the pain you went through and or are currently going through and not only does He see what you have gone through or are going through,

He wants to free you from that pain that is holding on to you.

He wants to deliver you and comfort you as you heal and become restored in His love.

Abba’s Beloved

I AM seen as beloved, in His very eyes.

I don’t belong to the other,

who tries to fill me with his lies.

I am Abba’s Image,

Wonderfully made, Beautifully done.

I was birthed into this world,

but accepted in His Son.

In His arms I am kept, away from any harm.

For He is is my safe haven,

the place I find my calm.

Steadfast Friend

In each neighbor

a unique story unfolds.

Their presencea reminder

of the love God molds.

For they, like us,

crave connection and care,

In this shared existence

we all have a role to bear.

To be the hands that heal,

the hearts that mend,

to lend a listening ear,

to be a steadfast friend.

Conquer The Mind

THERE IS A WAR GOING ON IN OUR MINDS!

More than 970 million people struggle with mental health issues in the world,

About 700,000 people die to suicide each year….AND

280 million people worldwide experience depression and hopelessness.

Our mind is the main battleground of our lives

And many of us are going into combat with the wrong weapons

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 Says:

We can’t continue fighting spiritual wars with physical weapons!

We have to use a weapon that will destroy the lies that are being planted in our mind.

This weapon is The Word of God

The Word of God divides between bone and marrow and pulls down strongholds. It casts down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God .

  1. First Identify what the attack is (what are you struggling with? is it fear, doubt, lust, anger, insecurity, bitterness, etc.)
  2. Find scriptures that you can use against the attack (find scriptures against fear, doubt, lust, anger, bitterness, etc.)
  3. Now attack those lies when they come forth (when the enemy attacks your mind with thoughts of fear, doubt, lust, anger, bitterness, etc. pull out those scriptures and begin declaring the word of God over the lies. )

You take every thought captive and bring it under the truth of Christ by continuously meditating on scripture until the renewing of your mind!

For those who struggle with perfectionism

11/29/23 | Journal Thoughts

I struggle with perfectionism and today was the day I finally admitted it to myself.

I spent 5 hours record and rerecording an Instagram reel because it was not good enough.

The whole entire time, I kept thinking about how it would be perceived by others lead me to critique every little thing about it.

Finally, when I went to post it, my network crashed and the entire video got deleted.

I decided well maybe it sucked so bad, that instagram had to puke it out of its mouth.

Immediately, the Holy Spirit brought me back to a phrase I heard in a sermon on YouTube:

“Perfectionism is rooted in the Fear of Man while Excellency is rooted in the Fear of God.”

Ouch… well, when you really think about it… that’s not wrong

Perfectionism is about the fear of failure, while striving for excellency is the urge for success.

And in success there is failure. It’s part of the process that we have to accept in order to grow in whatever it is we are doing or in who we are becoming.

I was so caught up in the audience that I thought my content was for that I forgot the one that I glory for… Jesus

God does not want us operating from a place of fear but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.

In Colossians 3:23 He says:

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

In the end God will not say Well Perfect, my Good and Faithful servant” He will say “Well Done….”
