I always thought that
JOY
was just a thing I could attain.
Until I realized He
CAME
DOWN
on earth like rain.
A little bundle hidden–
deeply in a manger.
A big message nailed–
right between two strangers.

June 20th, 2023 was world refugee day.
A day to raise awareness about the refugee crisis.
I AM A REFUGEE.
I have been in the US-of A for 18 years.
Came here when I was 5 years old from a Kenyan Refugee Camp.
I am South Sudanese but, I have never been to my country of South Sudan (SS).
If you don’t know already, Sudan is known for having the longest civil war in Africa history (22 years).
The war started in 1983 and finally ended in 2005 with SS getting independence in 2011.
The war killed roughly 2 million people.
Although the two nations split, there is still conflict in the nation of Sudan.
The principalities over the regions still reign.
Freedom is still to come (and indeed He will come).
As a Christian, a Refugee and a South Sudanese-American Citizen,
I have come to understand that the war that refugees are fleeing from,
is not only physical, but also spiritual and emotional.
They are seeking refuge from physical, spiritual and emotional attacks of the enemy.
And just as Ephesians 6:12 states;
“For we wrestle not against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
This World Refugee Day, pray for the nations that are being tormented by the forces of evil. Cry out on their behalf for revival to come upon the church and revolution to sweep their cities.
Let us labor in prayer for persecuted brothers and sister and also many unbelieving refugee’s to find true rest in Christ Jesus.
was there in the beginning,
but it was not the beginning.
is here till the end,
but it is not the end.
For there is someone that takes emptiness away.
Someone who fills the void of empty places– and brightens up dark unwanted spaces.
JESUS.
the beginning,
the middle,
the end.
eliminator of emptiness,
our defender,
and friend.

Sometimes
the thing that
needs to
break-through
is hiding
deep inside
of you.
While other times
you are
inside of it
hoping to escape
cuz you no longer fit.

LORD,
as I let go of my pride
teach me to abide.
In the shadow of the Almighty
pin me by your side.
Produce the fruit of your spirit
so all may see.
that the seed of your word
is planted within me.
